IPAF is the worldwide leading accrediting body for training in MEWPs & is recognised nationally & internationally.
International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) is the organisation that promotes the safe and responsible use of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs). Our IPAF training will teach students with all the needed knowledge to operate MEWPS securely.
Depending on the course chosen, you will need to pass a set number of criteria. This may (but may not) include:
- Have awareness of the relevant Health & Safety Regulations
- Be aware of accident prevention and control
- Identify the needs regarding personnel protection
- Refer to the operating manual when instructed to
- You may be asked to do this in a practical situation
- Being able to drive a MEWP safely
- Also being able to manoeuvre the machine as required, as well as correctly position and carry out the required tasks in a proper manner.

IPAF PAV
PAV stands for push around vertical. These are manually moved into place, but can only move up and down.
IPAF Mobile Boom 3b
Commonly known as cherry picker, these are operated from the platform. Both the platform and basket can be moved up and down, as well as sideways. This type can additionally be moved while in an elevated position.
1b Static Boom
Most favoured due to its lightweight size and easily mounted onto a vehicle or trailer.
IPAF Mobile Vertical 3a
Also referred to a mobile vertical machine or scissor lift. The platform can be driven as well as being in the elevated position.
