The LGV C+E (HGV 1) driving tests are conducted at the DSA large goods vehicle driving test centre with an off road manoeuvring area.
The test lasts about 90 minutes. A VERY HIGH standard of driving is required to pass this type of test.
At the start of the test you will be asked a few questions relating to the safety and loading of the outfit.
You will be required to a complete a "S shape" reversing exercise accurately and safely.
You will drive in varying roads and traffic conditions for about an hour, including motorways where possible, complete uphill, downhill and angled starts and complete an complete an element of independent driving. You will need to demonstrate a high standard of driving throughout the test.
Back at the driving test centre you will then un-couple the vehicle from the trailer, you are then required to re-couple the trailer safely.
Course: LGV Cat C+E (HGV 1) Rigid lorry over 7500kg MAM and trailer over 750kg.
Location: Southampton, Hampshire.
The LGV C+E licence is for drivers 21 or over, or 18 when taken with the driver CPC.
Course Requirement. Hold a Full LGV C (HGV 2) and a provisional LGV C+E licence.

Training is either in 3 or 4 hour sessions.
LGV C+E (HGV 1) driver training courses are between 12 and 24 hours duration depending upon your driving experience and ability to fully prepare you for the DSA LGV C driving test standard. Typically this can be done between in 5 and 7 days in duration.

2. Licence application:
Apply for your provisional LGV C licence entitlement with the D2 form from DVLA or collect from us.
3. Call us & Book your LGV Cat C or C+E driving assessment so we can assess how long a course you will require and book your course with us.
4. Theory Tests :
Book and pass the LGV theory, hazard perception and case study tests.
5. Practical Test:
Book your LGV course with us and take and pass your LGV practical test.
Take the LGV initial CPC test if required.
Drivers who got their drivers licence after September 1997 will be required to do the driver initial CPC before they can drive for hire and reward.
The initial CPC consists of two parts, module 2 theory case study and module 4 practical test.
